Our co-founder, Karine Rassool, meets Prince Charles at the Commonwealth Youth Forum
From the 16th to the 20th of April, our co-founder, Karine Rassool, attended the Commonwealth Youth Forum, that took place in London.
The Commonwealth Youth Forum (CYF) is organised as part of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM). It aims to promote cross-cultural connections and to achieve consensus among youth leaders on the policies required to address the challenges and opportunities facing young people. The theme of this year’s forum was “Powering Our Common Future” and over the course of the week Karine attended numerous plenary sessions where she heard from leaders across the Commonwealth. Delegates from 47 countries discussed several issues, of which environmental concerns and climate change were of interest and importance.
During the Forum, Karine was part of a group of nine delegates invited to attend a special sustainability session with HRH The Prince of Wales where she briefly explained some of the projects being undertaken by The Ocean Project Seychelles and discussed some of the sustainability issues faced by Seychelles, in particular the difficulty for the country to implement an effective waste management system.
