A 2-year marine litter monitoring programme from 2019 to 2021 across 4 beach sites in the inner and outer islands of Seychelles to gather baseline data on the abundance, composition and seasonal accumulation of macro-, meso- and micro-litter.
Supported by WIOMSA
The programme was supported by the Western Indian Ocean Marine Science Association (WIOMSA) and local partners - Islands Development Company Ltd, Island Conservation Society, Landscape & Waste Management Agency and Ministry of Agriculture, Climate Change & Environment. The programmed formed part of a regional programme led by WIOMSA and implemented in 6 other countries in the Western Indian Ocean region: Mauritius, Madagascar, Mozambique, South Africa, Tanzania and Kenya.
